Faith in Future Grace

Yes, we should acknowledge sin, confess sin, feel convicted of sin through the work of the Holy Spirit . . . however, where do we go after this; how do we fight sin? We must move to the Cross and the work of Jesus Christ; how he died and took on the full penalty of our past, present, and future sin and gave us hope and redemption . . . gave us new life, gave us GRACE. God is the same god that He has been, past, present and future. Have faith that God’s grace will abound presently and into the future and if you are looking for evidence, simply reflect and look at what grace God has already provided; it is never ceasing.

This has helped me with my fight with sin and I will continue to bank on how good God is; I wanted to share and point towards Jesus.

Not much to say . . .

Except that God is great and sovereign. He has opened my eyes to witness and watch him do his work every single day of my life . . . I’m simply blown away. I’m thrilled to serve and glorify him as he continues to show us grace.

On a side note: Some one or something has been taking up a lot of my extra time and it has been a blessing (all Christ’s doing). Amen.

The Great Error That Must Be Exploded

The great error that I am trying to explode in these messages is the error that says, faith in God is one thing and the fight for holiness is another thing. Faith gets you to heaven and holiness gets you rewards. You get your justification by faith, and you get your sanctification by works. You start the Christian life in the power of the Spirit, you press on in the efforts of the flesh. This is the great evangelical error of our day. The battle for obedience is optional, they say, because only faith is necessary for salvation.

Our response: the battle for obedience is absolutely necessary for salvation because it IS the fight of faith. The battle against lust [sin] is absolutely necessary for salvation because it is the battle against unbelief. Faith alone delivers from hell and the faith that delivers from hell delivers from lust [sin].

Please head Dr. John Piper’s call and walk with your helmet on, you are in the middle of a war.

Sleep, a picture and a parable.

In regards to what it means to be a Christian, quoted from C.J. Mahaney’s book Humility: True Greatness.

Your sleep tonight will be a small but real act of faith. You’ll lay your full weight on a bed, trusting this structure to support you. You can fully relax, because no effort at supporting yourself is required; something else is holding you up. And in the same way, throughout the night as you sleep, Someone else is sustaining you. This is a picture of what it’s like to belong to Christ.

I highly recommend picking up Mahaney’s book and spending a great deal of time slowly reading it while at the same time complimenting Mahaney’s writing with scripture.

Raw-aw, Ahabah, and Dode

Raw-aw, companionship.
Ahabah, love of the will.
Dode, the mingling of souls.

An amazing sermon on the three Hebrew words for what we call love, by Pastor Matt Chandler of The Village Church. A must listen.

Sermon audio in MP3 format

Ahabah is that there is no place I’d rather be than right here, right now with you. We like to make that sound really romantic, but ahavah is not about romance, it’s more like your hiding behind the couch while your spouse is throwing things at you trying to kill you. Now with that picture in your mind imagine “that there is no place I’d rather be than right here, right now with you”

Incredible . . . you just know this is how God designed it to be.

I can’t wait for the opportunity . . .

Battling the Unbelief of Lust

For any Man or Woman who struggles with lust in their pursuit of glorifying God, please listen or read this sermon!

Battling the Unbelief of Lust, by Dr. John Piper

Also, make sure to spend a lot of time in the holy scriptures!

Let’s begin with a biblical definition of lust. Lust is a sexual desire that dishonors its object and disregards God.

God bless.
